Designs that shape policy
10 years ago, the Scottish government committed to improving the collection of data on how many people are living with metastatic breast cancer, however they still haven’t.
This lack of data means thousands of people living with metastatic breast cancer are effectively missing.
Once the concept had been established, I was brought in to develop and execute the visual design.
The installation consisted of sixteen five-foot placards featuring photographs submitted by women living with metastatic breast cancer. The women themselves were cut from the images, visually representing how they were effectively ‘missing’ from the data.
The placards stood outside of Holyrood with the backdrop of Arthurs Seat. The featured women, MPs and the public were able to walk around the installation.
